We're thrilled to announce the launch of Vital Organizations on Monday April 15th. Recognizing the growth of our customer base, it became clear that a more sophisticated structure was needed beyond the current Teams framework. To address the complex needs Vital serves, we are introducing a new structure: the Organization. This feature will be available in all customer dashboards on Monday, April 15th.
Understanding Organizations
An Organization fundamentally represents an aggregation of teams, each with organizational-level configurations, similar to how Teams are compilations of Users with team-level settings. Previously, it was challenging for administrative users to manage more than a single team per login. The introduction of the Organization feature now allows one admin login to provide access to all teams within the organization, streamlining management processes such as access control, and billing. It is important to note, for users previously managing a single team, this update will not affect your experience. Notably, every feature described below is available via API access for teams on the Scale plan.
Utilizing Organizations
Organizations simplify the management of multiple teams under a single login, enhancing operational efficiency. Key functionalities include:
- Creation of Organizations: Establish a new organization with a unique username not tied to any existing organization.
- Admin Management: View current organization admins, invite new admin users, or remove existing admins. Currently, admin users have access to all teams within your organization.
- Team Management: Create new teams or switch between teams to manage team-specific configurations. For ease of navigation among multiple teams, a search feature is available. For example, this is particularly convenient if you have to manage an EU and US team simultaneously with a single billing system and administrative view.
- Billing Information: Access organization-level billing details and invoices directly from the dashboard.
- General overview:
These features are designed to consolidate team management while retaining team-specific functionalities like user management and health data.
What Remains Unchanged
- Users and Teams: The relationship between Users and Teams are the same. Users are still a part of a Team. Users in different Teams (even if they represent the same physical person) remain entirely unrelated.
- Wearable Connections: Wearable connections remain at the User level, with Users still part of Teams.
- Team API Keys: Each team maintains its unique API Keys.
- Team-level Configurations: Includes webhooks, device priorities, lab tests, orders, and customized communication settings. If a setting is accessible through the left menu bar, this indicates a team-level management configuration.
What Changes
- Admin User Access: Users needing access to multiple Teams will now have streamlined access through a single organization configuration.
- Billing Information: Billing details are now managed at the organization level, accessible via the dropdown menu by clicking on the Team name.
- Admin User Management: Similarly, admin user management has transitioned to the organization level, also accessible through the dropdown menu.
- Team switching: if you have multiple Teams, clicking on the team name will allow you to switch between Teams in the dashboard.
API implications
- All of the actions described above are available by API for companies on the Scale plan. Docs are available here:

Some examples of features that we are looking to launch on top of the existing organization is SSO for customer on the Scale plan.
This update marks a significant milestone in our commitment to improving user experience and operational efficiency for our customers. We look forward to supporting your continued success with Vital Organizations.
FAQ
- I really need to access two different organizations, how do I do this?
- Many email servers support plus addressing or sub-addressing emails such as my_username+test@mydomain.com. You can use these emails to create multiple organizations using a single actual email system.
- Can I transfer users between teams?
- No, a user is strongly affiliated with a given team. However, you can create multiple users in different teams that represent one physical human if that suits your purposes.
